Doily Snowman Craft

What you need
  • doilies – same size or different sizes
  • buttons for decorating
  • a sheet of blue paper
  • colored paper for decorating
  • scissors
  • glue
  • marker
step1
If using two doilies that are the same size, trim one a little bit so it’s smaller than the other.
step2
Glue two doilies, smaller on on top, on the sheet of blue paper. Stick glue does a great job here as it doesn’t wrinkle up the doily.
step3
Glue on buttons (you can also draw them or use other materials such as pom poms).
step4
Glue on the nose that you have cut out of the orange paper (or draw it with an orange marker). Draw mouth and add eyes (we used wiggle eye stickers).

Last but not least a simple scarf makes all the difference. And you’re done!

As the temperatures drop, there are more and more days when kids are stuck inside, either because it’s too cold or because all of the clothes are soaking wet from the outdoor play.
When the “indoor” time comes and you need a boredom buster, or a simple project to make a great looking bulletin board or display for your classroom this winter hats craft is once to make!
I’ve made a template for this craft you can print so this one is really minimum prep.
Print out the templates, have the kids color them in or decorate them with other materials (tissue paper, torn paper…) and to top it up decorate the paper winter hats with cotton balls or paper.

How to Make Winter Hats Craft for Kids

What you need:
  •  our hat template (you can grab it at the end of this tutorial)
  • colors – crayons, watercolors, markers, do a dot markers, stickers, coloring pencils (whatever is appropriate for the age group you will be making this craft with)
  • cotton balls
  • white school glue
  • scissors
Glitter is always a nice addition (biodegradable being our choice).

Follow the Step by Step Instructions

Print as many copies of the hat template as you need.
You can have the kids do more than one as they are really quick to make.
You can grab the template at the end of this tutorial.
Winter Craft
Let the kids color the hats, coloring outside the lines encouraged naturally as its fun!
We decided to go with crayons as they make a really nice texture (and are easy to use).
Some other fun ways the kids could color the winter hats are by using their fingers, tearing magazines and gluing torn pieces on the hats, using stamping (potato or stamps…), watercolors (combined with crayons or salt to explore watercolor techniques) and so on.
The best way to do this crafting activity is to offer as many “coloring” materials as possible to kids or students.
Coloring the Winter Hats
Once kids have colored the hats, cut them.
Cutting is done either by you for them or by them for themselves, again depending on the age group.
Easy Winter Hat Craft
Now for the fun part! Add glue on top and bottom of the hat and stick cotton balls to it.
It will really make this winter hat craft pop!

They look fun on their own, but hang them on a string and they are even cuter.

We’ve shared many printable paper rings template with you already (just check these printable bug paper rings – they are sooo fun) and though it was about time to offer something new to go along with them. Enter the paper bracelet!
With Valentines day and Mother’s day just around the corner we though it was fitting to open the series with a heart.
While our paper rings are already designed and ready to wear, we thought the heart should have, well something from the heart. That’s why this one has a blank template that kids have to decorate on their own.
This will make this one a wonderful DIY gift from kids to their friends and family.
We’ve made a few different sizes to fit different age ranges but do keep in mind, not all printers print the same way (and leave things true to size) so do try the sizes before making this with the kids (especially if you will be making these in the classroom).
If you need even larger sizes, extend the paper strips – cut them in half an glue another paper strip between the halves to get a longer bracelet. If you need s smaller one, cut out a piece of paper bracelet and glue the remaining strip together. This is best done with clear tape.

Step by Step How to Instructions

Print our printable paper heart bracelet template (which you can grab at the end of this tutorial).
These are best printed on heavier print paper (100gms+, 70lb+). This will make it easier to color and less likely to get torn apart as kids create their own bracelets.
There are two bracelets per each sheet of paper. Under the bracelets there are two hearts to color/decorate.

If your kids want to make their bracelets in one color, they can just color in the half hearts on the bracelets themselves, if they want more intricate designs let them decorate and color the heart shapes next to the bracelets.
This will make the end design of both halves neat.
All colored in? Happy with the design? Time to cut out the shapes.

You will need one bracelet base and one heart to make on bracelet. Cut them out.
Cut the colored in heart in half (there is a dashed line on the heart but depending on colors used it might not be very visible.

Glue the colored in heart halves onto the heart halves on the bracelet.

Nice and easy. Let the glue dry for a while before you continue.

We don’t want the hearts to move around.
Take the bracelet and scissors. Next to each heart half you will see a dashed line running to the middle of the paper band.

Cut along that dashed line.
Time to put on a bracelet – this last step has to be done on the hand, best by a classmate, teacher or a parent as putting it on by yourself is a bit challenging for younger kids (not impossible).

You need to slide one slit (the ones you made along the dashed lines) one into another.
